The official partnership between Nike and Kanye West was a large step of showcasing how hip-hop culture can influence the world of fashion and sneakers. But long before any of the Yeezy’s came out Nike had already worked with a number of artists to put their spin on a pair of sneakers or two. In the mid-2000’s Nike teamed up with graffiti artist, hip hop artist and actress for three different artists packs. Nike developed the special series giving the hand selected individuals the opportunity to work on a popular Nike silhouette and personalize it their way. When you have the Nike SB camp sit down and let them jam out to their favorite tunes you probably get the idea they listen to some good Rock N’ Roll due to their past releases paying tribute to classic rocks bands. In 2005 the Nike SB line dropped a pack to pay tribute to rock band The Melvins. The Melvins is a metal band that formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. Since the start of the band rocking out they have made quite an impact on the music world. It has been over two decades and with nearly 20 album releases but they still rock out as heavy as when they first started! They are highly recognized for their unique blend that has paved the way for many bands to follow in their footsteps. It was only right that this band got recognition and what better way than to have Nike create two special pairs. Continue reading

Not the first time and far from the last time a Star Wars character is the inspiration for a sneaker. In fact Boba Fett is so popular that the bounty hunter is seen in nearly every Star Wars film as well as rumored to possibly have his own spin-off movie in the future (fingers crossed). Released in September 2003, the classic Nike SB Dunk High “Iron” is a great looking sneaker that we would put it up with many of today’s current releases. Part of the famed “silver box” era of Nike SB, this version of the Dunk High stood out amongst its peers.
